Broad Run Pummels Park View

The Spartans jumped out to a 44-7 halftime lead and never looked back.

Friday night, the Broad Run Spartans relied on a barrage of big plays in the rushing and passing games to overwhelm the visiting Park View Patriots by the score of 51-7.

Derril Thomas paced the Spartans on the ground, rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries. Connor Jessop only needed to throw nine passes to rack up 226 yards and three touchdowns. Dorian Jenkins was Jessop's favorite target on the night, as he tallied four receptions for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

The Spartans next face Ashburn rival the Briar Woods Falcons Sept. 2 in Brambleton. The game will be a rematch of last year's regional final matchup that Briar Woods won en route to the team's first state championship. The game is expected to draw statewide and even national interest, as both teams are ranked in MaxPreps "Virginia Football Preseason Top 15." The game will feature numerous players receiving significant interest from college coaches, such as the Falcons' Stanford-bound speedster Alex Carter and the Spartans' Brendan Vechery.
