Two of Ashburn’s high school football teams head to gridiron Friday at 7 p.m. to determine the community’s hottest team in the Battle of the Burn.

Ashburn football seems to produce champions each year, with state titles claimed by each team. Mostly recently, Briar Woods became repeat champs, following in Broad Run’s earlier footsteps.

Tonight, the Stone Bridge Bulldogs will make the short trip to face the Spartans at Broad Run’s stadium.

Be aware of beefed up traffic patrols by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Huge crowds last year made entering and existing the school a time-consuming task, so deputies hope to improve the flow this year. Towing will be enforced on illegal parking.

And while the Spartans and Bulldogs square off at Broad Run, the Briar Woods Falcons will welcome North Stafford High School into their next. That game also starts at 7 p.m.
