Last Volleyball Duel for Duo Before Joining Military Academies

Longtime teammates, friends going head-to-head now and in the future.

The rivalry between Stone Bridge High School and Loudoun County High School for volleyball supremacy is marked by a military civil war of sorts, fitting for a county so tied to the real Civil War.

Two top players go face-to-face today, representing not only their respective high schools, but also their future military academies. Loudoun County’s Maggie Phillips is heading to the U.S. Naval Academy, while Stone Bridge’s Megan Bryn has her sights set on the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The two are friends who have played club volleyball together since they were 12, each starting for their teams starting from their freshmen years. Each played for Virginia Elite Volleyball Club.

Starting next year, the two will continue to do battle across the net in the Division I Patriot League.

So don’t miss the game at 7 p.m. tonight, Sept. 30, in the main gym at Stone Bridge. It could be their last matchup before college.
