LLLL to Host State Big League Baseball Tourney

The precursor to the Big League World Series runs July 5-9 at Foltz Field, Park View High School.

In case you don’t get your fill of thrilling sites in the sky on the Fourth of July, skydivers will present the game ball to participants in the Virginia State Big League Baseball Tournament in Sterling July 5. The Lower Loudoun Little League (LLLL) announced today that it will host the Virginia State Big League Baseball Tournament next month. The league hosted the Junior State Tournament in 2010.

Organizers set the statewide tournament, created for players aged 16 to 18, for July 5-9 at Foltz Field and Park View High School, 400 West Laurel Avenue, in Sterling. The opening ceremony begins at 5 p.m. July 5 and is open to the public. A parachute team from Chambersburg Skydiving Center in Pennsylvania will present the game ball.

“We are thrilled to be hosting a tournament again this year,” said Pat Ward, president of the LLLL. “We feel we are the perfect venue for this type of tournament since our fields are top‐notch and our location in Northern Virginia offers numerous activities, hotels and restaurants for the players and their families.”
