Playoff Basketball Comes to Ashburn

Briar Woods, Broad Run and Stone Bridge host games this week as high school postseason begins.

Ashburn area high school basketball fans can enjoy a full slate of local action this week as several teams seek spots in the semifinals. 

To kick things off, Briar Woods hosts a Dulles District quarterfinal double-header tonight. The girls team takes on Park View at 6 p.m., while the boys square off with Freedom-South Riding at 7:45 p.m.

Across town, the Broad Run boys host Woodgrove at 7 p.m., while the girls team travels to Potomac Falls for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Panthers.

The winners of tonight's Dulles District games advance to the semifinal round Wednesday night. Locations will be determined.

Stone Bridge fans must wait one more night to cheer the Bulldogs on the in the playoffs. The top-seeded Lady Bulldogs host Jefferson at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a Liberty District quarterfinal showdown. The boys team travels to McLean for a tough game against the Saxons at 7:30 p.m.

Winners of Tuesday night's Liberty District games advance to the semifinals at South Lakes High School in Reston. The boys semifinal games will be played Wednesday night, followed by girls on Thursday.
