Stone Bridge in Hockey Finals Friday at Kettler Iceplex

After walloping Oakton, the No. 1-ranked Bulldogs head to Arlington to face McLean.

The Stone Bridge ice hockey team faces McLean at 6:30 tonight in the NVSHL tournament championship game at the Kettler Capital Iceplex in Arlington.

The No. 1 ranked Bulldogs face the No. 2 Highlanders after knocking off the Oakton Cougars 10-2 Wednesday night.

Controversy stirred Thursday as Oakton filed an appeal that raised questions about goalkeeper Tanner Jones’ eligibility, but Oakton Coach John Alexa said late Thursday that the appeal would be dropped ().

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a power play and each of their lines kept the pressure on Oakton. Parker Delaney led Stone Bridge with three goals in the game. Stone Bridge logged 46 shots on goal compared to 18 for the Cougars.

Max Harrison and Mason Hauser scored the lone two goals for Oakton in the game during the third period. Oakton had defeated the Bulldogs during the regular season 6-2.

Brad Bullen and Andrew Baron each scored twice for Stone Bridge, while Trevor Mack, Anthony Moffa and Conor Donovan each added one.

Baron tallied three assists, followed by Mack, Cooper Young, Tyler Crawford and Joshua Kuzbel with two assists each. Donovan, Dulaney and Bullen each had one assist.

Delaney, Bullen and Baron each scored solo goals as well.
