Team Ashburn had a strong showing at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Eastern Sectional Championships this past weekend. Held at the Olympic facilities in Lake Placid, NY, it is the largest competition of its kind and attracts skating teams from Florida to Maine.
Considered the most successful synchro team in the D.C. area, Team Ashburn skaters did well against very tough competitors from New England and New York. Two of the Ashburn groups had especially great performances: the pre-juvenile team placed 4th in their qualifying round, and advanced to finals; then placed 9th; while the preliminary level team, primarily made of up skaters under 10 years of age, placed first in the qualifying round and earned bronze in the finals.
