Look...Up in the Sky: Peak Visibility of Saturn

The forecast for viewing is good.

It’s not every day -- or night -- that you get to see Saturn’s rings so vividly, live from our little home called Earth.

But tonight is one of those nights.

With its glistening rings, Saturn is the jewel of the solar system, and a rare alignment in the skies should make it more visible from Ashburn than at anytime since 2006.

The weather forecast for Ashburn calls for only partly cloudy skies, so the viewing could be good. You can wave at Saturn starting around 5:27 p.m., according to NASA. (Follow the link for more viewing tips).
