Parades in Leesburg, Purcellville for Nation's Holiday

Annual Fourth of July parades are set for Thursday, with fireworks to follow.

The early birds may be looking for some Independence Day action way before the fireworks hit the sky, and Loudoun delivers every year.

The annual Independence Day Parade in the Town of Leesburg begins at 10 a.m. (downtown streets will close from about 9:30 a.m. until around noon) at Ida Lee Park. The route runs south along King Street to Fairfax Street. Before the parade begins, the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps will perform at King and Market streets.

In Purcellville, the annual July 4th Fireman’s Parade begins at 12:30 p.m. at Emerick Middle School, runs along Orchard Avenue, Main Street and Maple Avenue, and then ends at Loudoun Valley High School. The town and the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department coordinate the event. There will be a “Noise-Free Zone” from Orchard Street to Purcellville Market Place, formerly Town Hall, where no sirens or horns will be used. Check the Town of Purcellville website for more information.
