Ashburn Ruritan Club Partners with Macy's for Sixth Annual Shop For A Cause Day

Macy's helps local charity raise funds and awareness for important cause

Macy’s has partnered with The Ashburn Ruritan Club to invite customers to participate in the department store’s sixth annual Shop for a Cause charity shopping event. The event takes place Aug. 27 and customers can purchase tickets now from the Ruritan Club. The Macy’s event has helped raised nearly $40 million for charities across the country since 2006.

“Macy’s is committed to giving back to our local communities. Our annual Shop for a Cause Program, which has raised more than $38 million for local and national charities in the past five years, is meaningful for us because it gives our customers and associates an opportunity to give back to the local charities, schools and nonprofits that matter a great deal to them,” said Macy’s spokesman Martine Reardon. “We are proud to offer our customers an easy way to make a positive difference while enjoying great savings at Macy’s.”

The Ruritan Club has $5 shopping passes for sale, and the Ruritans will keep 100 percent of every ticket it sells. The more passes sold, the more money the club raises.

By purchasing a shopping pass, shoppers can help support the club’s civic service programs. The Ashburn Ruritan Club, in cooperation with the administrative staffs at the 21 local elementary, middle and high schools, seeks to improve the Ashburn community by providing merit-based scholarships and support for underfunded educational programs. In addition the Ruritans provide financial assistance for needy children and emergency support for victims of local catastrophes through monetary gifts and volunteer service.

Pass holders will enjoy special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day. Some exclusions apply.
