Golf Tournament Helps Leesburg Capital Caring

The 7th annual Scott A. Vivian Golf Tournament, dubbed 19 Holes for Hospice, begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 15th at Westpark Golf Club in Leesburg.

The tournament honors the late Scott Vivian, who was among the first residents to move into Broadlands resident. Neighbor Mike Pratt became a close friend and said recently that Vivian became a well-loved figure in the community, as an avid Redskins fan, Penn State alum and fan, Civil War enthusiast, and political aficionado.

Vivian passed away at the age of 44, leaving behind his wife and two young daughters. Organizers created 19 Holes for Hospice as a way to keep his legacy alive while helping Leesburg Capital Caring, the nonprofit hospice service that cared for Vivian.

“We recognize life is short and we need to make a difference,” Pratt told Patch before the tournament in 2011. “This golf outing is a means of doing that and at the same time keeping alive the legacy of a wonderful friend and a great husband and father.”

The Leesburg Capital Caring team serves people with serious, progressive illness in Loudoun, Herndon, Reston, Great Falls and Chantilly. The Leesburg Capital Caring team serves an area that covers 578 miles and 427,000 residents. All proceeds benefit Capital Caring.
