Hair Cuttery, Krausey's Koats Partnership Helps Those in Need

Ashburn area salons will be collecting winter outwear this Holiday season for those who otherwise might go without.

Hair Cuttery salons throughout Northern Virginia are collecting gently used coats, jackets, hats, scarves and mittens this winter for Krausey’s Koats – which gathers cold-weather gear for those in need – through Jan. 1, 2012.

Donations can be taken to any Hair Cuttery locations in Ashburn (, , , Ryan Park Center) during normal business hours.
All items will be delivered to local missions and homeless shelters, and a variety of nonprofits serving the needy, such as  St. Vincent DePaul SocietyThe Salvation ArmyCradles to Crayons. The transportation and delivery of the winter gear will be handled in collaboration with the U.S. Army.

Hair Cuttery partnered with the Krausey’s Koats campaign last year in the Philadelphia area and collected 6,500 coats.

“This year,” said Dennis Ratner, Hair Cuttery founder and CEO, “with the expansion of the program into other regions of the country, we hope to collect even more cold-weather clothing for those in need. That would certainly make it a merrier holiday for all of us.”

Philadelphia radio personality Joe Krause started Krausey’s Koats with the support of IBEW Local 98 six years ago.

Hair Cuttery supports a number of national and local causes, including: Dress for Success, American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Buzzing 4 Change, National Kidney Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Locks of Love.
