Angry Birds On Steroids Just A Short Drive Away

Wayside Farm in Berryville designed its corn maze like the popular game and is "launching" birds all the way to Iowa.

Looking to take advantage of Loudoun rural offerings? How about an Angry Birds-themed corn maze?

Tyler Wegmeyer, owner of Wegmeyer Farms in Lincoln, VA, worked with Dan-D Farm in Knoxville, IA, to create a maze that “launches” an Angry Bird from Virginia into a pumpkin pile in Iowa. Wegmeyers Farms is a partner with Wayside Farm, where the maze is located.

If you’re planning to be in Virginia and Iowa this fall, be aware that admission to one farm gets you into the other for free.

“The idea for the display came about from our using a focus group of our three little kids, ages 2, 5 and 6,” Wegmeyer said in a press release. “They love to play Angry Birds and they told us, ‘We need to do an Angry Birds corn maze.’ So we listened to them, as we do a lot."

The maze can be seen from Route 7, but there’s more at the farm, including hayrides, pig races, slides and playgrounds.

Wayside Farm is a working farm that takes every opportunity to educate people about current and past agricultural practices in the Northern Virginia/Shenandoah area.

Don’t forget to grab a pumpkin from the eight-acre u-pick patch.

The farm is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to Sunday through November. For more information, visit www.waysidefarmfun.com
