Why You Should Sign Up for the Fit Foodie 5k Race Weekend

Kick-start your summer with three days of exercising, eating and drinking in Fairfax from June 20-22.

Penned as “the most delicious 5K weekend ever,” Cooking Light & Health’s The Fit Foodie 5k Race Weekend in Fairfax is an event for food-lovers, wine tastings and avid runners alike. The event includes celebrity sightings, a 5K run, celebrity chefs, a Power Systems fitness bootcamp, yoga demonstrations and multiple giveaways.

The Fairfax event is the first of three scheduled throughout the year in Austin, Texas (Sept. 12-14) and San Diego, California (Nov. 14-16).

Friday, June 20: The event kicks off Friday, June 20 at Mosaic in Fairfax with a VIP Light Up The Night tasting event hosted by Chef RJ Cooper, former winner of the James Beard Best Chef Mid-Atlantic award. Runners will be joined by the editors of Cooking Light and Health to enjoy light food and special culinary giveaways. ($60)

Saturday, June 21: Runners are encouraged to meet for a group stretch at 8:30 a.m. and take their marks with their fellow Fit Foodies to start the race at 9 ($55). After crossing the finish line, celebrate at the Finisher’s Village from 9:30-12:30 with refuel stations, celebrity chef demos and tastings, fitness demos, beer and wine tastings, giveaways and food from participating restaurants and sponsors ($35).

Sunday, June 22: Choose between Sunrise Yoga & Brunch with celebrity trainer Kristin McGee leads or Power Systems Fitness Bootcamp with celebrity trainer Patrick Goudeau, both from 9-10 a.m ($55). Participants of both will be treated to brunch featuring keynote addresses by celebrity fitness trainers and a fitness Q&A with Goudeau ($45). Sign up for all activities with the Make It A Weekend package for $155 (a $95 savings).

10 percent of each ticket sale will go toward City of Hope, a worldwide leader in research and treatment for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
