Hey Coach you should stick to coaching and stop clowning around until you take home the trophy.

Indeed. Watching a soccer game is much more important than keeping a job.

Government needs to take care of government and leave sports out of it. I am a direct decedent ofRead More Pocahontas and think the name Redskins is fine. I agree with the RPC. Why look a gift horse in the mouth. This team brings millions into Virginia each year. Maybe they should remove the name "Washington". Who wants to be associated with what is going on up there now.
John Lovaas June 29, 2014 at 07:04 am
It is sad that a sports team which for many years was a source fun and even a unifiying pride in theRead More Washington metro region has become a new battleground for disagreement and division among us. A sign of the times.

I'm glad these legislatures are doing this.

All the Redskins have to do is substitute a picture of some red potatoes for the native American andRead More then they can stay the redskins. GO FIGHTING POTATOES!!

Dan Snyder should take a lesson from the Wizards--formerly the Bullets--recognizing that anRead More offensive name should be changed. For Snyder, it's not about the team name. It's about his ego.
Rick Young June 23, 2014 at 12:49 pm
Let Snyder Suffer the consequences, if any. I will NOT feel sorry for him.

If you think traffic is bad now, it will be 10 times (or more!) worse then. Security alone will beRead More a nightmare. Let one of the other cities have it.
Woodside Park Bob June 14, 2014 at 11:44 am
I agree that having the Olympics here would be a disaster -- lots of inconvenience and costs to theRead More public and mainly only the hotel and restaurant business would benefit. Not one cent of tax money should go toward bringing the Olympics here.

I'm intrigued bit cautious. If something happens to remake the area around RFK it could be aRead More substantial legacy. The region already has a lot of the other event infrastructure and facilities so the games would be dispersed.
With its stunts, pyramids and gymnastics moves, many say that cheerleading is a sport that needs improved safety measures. File|Patch

Of course it is. Nobody who has ever seen it would think otherwise.
Joana June 12, 2014 at 04:45 pm
Yes, it's a sport! I could never understand why anyone would think otherwise. The gym my son goesRead More to, Capital, has cheer teams practicing everyday. If you saw their tumble runs you would totally agree it is a sport. And oh by the way, aren't gymnastics, skiing, diving, etc., judged?

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.
Umpire Selected for Regional Little League Tournament in Georgia. Patch file.

Congratulations to Pam on her selection- being a volunteer is hard enough, being a volunteer umpireRead More is extremely hard. Dulles Little League hosts the largest Challenger program in Loudoun County. Parents of special needs kids should visit www.dulleslittleleague.org and contact a member of the Board of Directors to enroll in this very rewarding program.
