Bryce, Bergin:
I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of your input. I have been raising this point…Read More with politicians and in forums to no avail. Ashburn is turning into a jungle, buildings everywhere, movie theaters, stiadiums(!) built in a mere months (if not weeks) but simple walkways, or better connecting roads take forever... or never. It is simply unconscionable.
(Ex. The other day, my daughter was biking with a friend on the corner of Ashburn Rd & Russel Pkwy, where the walkways literally disappear, and she was almost run over; she came home TERRIFIED). Shouldn't reporters ALSO put pressure on these deffiencies? Ashburn is growing fast and challenges are still unresolved, and try every way we can to make the political powers move, to no avail. BTW: Welcome to Ashburn, Bergin. It STILL has good things to offer...

Your comments are so typical of a liberal mind who thinks he is smart and right and there is only…Read More one answer to our problems. Ergo: everyone else is wrong, or stupid. And when you cannot use GOOD arguments, then you start insulting, right? So who is your voice of common sense: Chris Matthews? Andrea Mitchel? That ugly-bleached-blond named like a mineral (you see how I am using leftists tactics?). It is your standthat brings the discourse down, because you decided to put eveyr single Repub that stand fro something different at the bottom of your self-righteous world.
You totally forget the center, the independents, the ones that are not associated to an ideology but to their open thinking and common sense. At least T.Ailshire (above) said something reasonable in much fewer words than you or your propaganda predecessor (Stallings).
And at least Fox shows TWO sides of many, many stories, your friends at NBC invite solely those who gree twith them and preach to the choir (Check it out before you opine). N
In summary: THAT is the typical fascim of mind that comes for the elitist liberals, as years of exposure have shown. If you dont agree with me, fine, but please: don't pretend common sense comes from you beause your pseudonym is 'The ANALyst'.
Karen Stallings June 18, 2013 at 11:32 pm
Whoa....In what world did Analyst insult you? The Sarah Palin rush Limbaugh on Fox part? I didn't…Read More read anything about what they said, only that they are the face of Fox (and I guess you take that to be the face of the Republican Party too so that is insulting?) Talk about long winded and insulting - pot calling the kettle black maybe?
The BSD Guy June 19, 2013 at 01:53 pm
Ms. Ackerman, like her Republican counterparts makes essentially comments with a more or less…Read More belligerent if not violent and angry tone. Filled with stereotypes and little reality (all politicians are corrupt, for example) plus crude insults (referring to TheAnalyst as TheANALyst). This is typical of the "us against the world, and we'll kill you if you disagree with us" type of mentality expressed by todays Republicans.
As far as I'm concerned all TheAnalyst did was point out that TheRepublican makes comments that sound just like some of those of the spokesmen of the Republican party - and it's true. Totally true.
The Republicans have become an obscure and extremely Radical group of people that are out of touch with about 90% of the rest of the U.S.. When one of their people speaks out as does TheRepublican, they try to disavow him, not because he's wrong but because they want to hide their plans and objectives from the American public.
Cheap tricks and smoke and mirrors shows are all the Republcan party has to offer anyone anymore.

Apparently the letter from Mr. Rogoff (FTA) to Mr. Potter (MWAA) was sent on May 17, 2013 - but it…Read More wasn't until June 13, 2013 that WE found out, and apparently that was only because somebody finally leaked a copy to the Washington Post.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/trafficandcommuting/concerns-raised-about-metro-train-control-system-on-new-rail-line/2013/06/13/68d86bf2-d452-11e2-b05f-3ea3f0e7bb5a_story.html
You know, we were assured that we would get transparency out of MWAA. THAT is not transparency!
OK. On November 16, 2012, we had a Congressional hearing on MWAA, after the horrible Inspector General report of November 1, 2012. At that hearing, only three of the five long-term Board and Officers spoke to the Congressional committee - Mr. Davis (2010), Mr. Curto (2011) and Mr. Potter (2011).
This latest example of non-transparency calls for another Congresional hearing, I think. But this time, can we have ALL of the long-time Board and Officers of MWAA answer questions from the Congressional oversight panel? Let's hear from Mr. Davis (2010), Mr. Curto (2011) and Mr. Potter (2011), Secretary Brinkley (2008), and Executive Vice President and COO McKeough (2004), shall we?

All pit bull owners should be forced, by law, to have insurance for this animal. This breed is know…Read More to be a ticking time bomb but it's not their fault, it's the owner that must be held accountable.

All pits are "ticking time bombs"? Really? In the 3+ years I've had sight hounds and…Read More been in and out of dog parks in Alexandria, I've never seen a pit or pit-mix "go off"; nor have I seen any while walking in the neighborhoods get violent and attack.. I have however experienced first hand a black lab come into the enclosed dog park and as soon as it was off leash, try to chase down my greyhound completely unprovoked. I know it meant to do serious harm based on the teeth marks left in my hounds coat was wearing at the time (as it was late fall/early winter). It's not the breed that is the problem, it's the people that USE the breed for sport and train/force them to be aggressive. Here's an excerpt from the AKC.ORG website for the Bull Terrier "breed standard"... "Playful and clownish, the Bull Terrier is best described as a three year-old child in a dog suit. Given his muscular build, the Bull Terrier can appear unapproachable, but he is an exceedingly friendly dog, with a sweet and fun-loving disposition and popular in the obedience, agility and show rings"
