I can use the W&OD trail only to a point; I work in Vienna down the street from Tysons Corner Mall, off Old Courthouse Road. Winding through neighborhoods, once you leave the Trail, can be problematic without a good map. The BTWD leadership should also begin to promote what's important at the other end of the commute. Purcellville Welcomes Loudoun Lyme 5K Race Sunday

For a third year, the race has been organized to raise awareness about Lyme and its impacts.

DryHome Roofing and Siding has planned the 3rd Annual Loudoun Lyme 5K/1M Sunday, May 19, at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville to raise awareness and money to help find a cure for Lyme disease. Lyme is the number one tick-borne illness in the U.S., and affects Loudoun County more than any other county in Virginia. In fact, Loudoun is home to the third-largest number of Lyme cases in the United States. DryHome Roofing and Siding owner Steve Gotschi started the race/walk after watching his wife and many friends battle the disease.   The Loudoun Lyme 5K also features a 1M family walk and informational fair to educate the public about the disease, its causes and treatments. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m…

Field hockey makes its debut on a Loudoun County Public Schools field as clubs from Briar Woods, Dominion square off.

Potomac Field Hockey (PFH), a local private club, hopes to put a spotlight on the sport in Loudoun with a game between county teams played at Dominion High School’s stadium. Loudoun County's high schools have no field hockey teams, local club teams play under their school banners. The public school systems in several neighboring counties offer field hockey, but Loudoun County Public Schools has not adopted the sport, nor its sister sport ice hockey, which is also played under high school banners through private clubs. Representatives for Potomac Field Hockey say the game, set for 7:30 p.m. May 18, will be the first ever played on an LCPS field and credit Dominion Principal John Brewer, Athletic Director Joe Fleming and Assistant Principal …
