Whoopsies!' Whoopie Pies Now at Ashburn Farmers Market
One local entrepreneur has been creating a buzz by putting a new twist on an old treat.
At Whoopsies!, the motto is, “Why should cupcakes have all the fun?” While cupcakes have scored well as the current treat trend, one local entrepreneur is creating a whole lot of whoop-la with whoopie pies, and while whoopie pies have been around for nearly 100 years, many people are just discovering them. Last November, Berkeley Gunnell, of Aldie, and her mom, Marcia Wiggins, of Cape Elizabeth, ME, started a company called Whoopsies!, and now Ashburn residents can get their hands Whoopsies! pies without leaving the 20147 ZIP code. What are whoopie pies? They are small cake-like treats with a creamy filling. As a native Mainer I must say these look like the real thing--and delicious to boot! Not used to the $3.50 price tag as I can buy them at any gas station in Maine for $.99 but that doesn't mean I wouldn't pay that for a great whoopie pie. Yum!   more ›
