Ashburn Crime Report: Dec. 27 – Jan. 1

Recent incidents reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Robbery A black male reportedly approached someone on the 20000 block of Coltsfoot Terrace in Ashburn Village, displayed a gun and took cash at 1:50 p.m. Dec. 27. The suspect was described as about 6-foot-5 with a thin build, wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark jeans.  Unlawful Entry Unknown people were reported to have entered a vacant home on the 44000 block of Gala Circle in Ashburn Village around 11 p.m. Dec. 31. They fled before law enforcement arrived. Deputy Charged with Assaulting Ashburn Neighbor

The corrections officer has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

A deputy with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was charged with “misdemeanor assault and battery and strangle another causing wounding or injury” after a Dec. 27 incident in Ashburn. Robert B. DeGroot, 29, of Ashburn, has been placed on administrative leave from the LCSO – where the seven-year veteran is assigned to the Corrections and Courts Service Division – during the investigation. According to an LCSO report, the incident involved DeGroot’s friend. Deputies responded to a home on Bruceton Mills Circle in Ashburn Village after a caller reported disorderly conduct. The 28-year-old victim met deputies outside the home and told them DeGroot assaulted him while they were doing work on the home, according to the LCSO report. The victim …

Ashburn Crime Report: Dec. 1-7

The following incidents were reported by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies charged a woman with assault on law enforcement and disorderly conduct after she struck a deputy during an attempt to take her into custody. Officers responded to a fight in progress on the 19200 block of Promenade Drive at the Lansdowne Town Center shortly after 1 a.m. Dec. 1 and attempted to take a reportedly disorderly Franchesca L. Wiley, 26, of Leesburg, into custody when she struck a deputy several times, according to an LCSO report. In addition to the assault and disorderly charges, Wiley received a summons for public intoxication. Deputies also charged Sassafrass A. Wiley, 22, of Manassas, with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Two additional people at the …

Ten Years for Assault at Ashburn Bar

A Richmond man will serve time in prison for 2011 malicious wounding at Finnegan’s Pub.

A Loudoun Circuit Court Judge Burke F. McCahill sentenced Paradise Ron Boy Bryan Carter, of Richmond, to 10 years in prison, with another 10 years of probation, for a Dec. 26, 2011 incident in which he assaulted a woman at Finnegan’s Irish Pub in Ashburn Village, according to the Loudoun Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. After a woman said something that offended Carter, 38, he punched her in the face, causing her to fall backward and strike her head on the bar on the way to the floor, according to a report from the commonwealth’s attorney. He then leapt onto the unconscious victim and began to strangle her, according to the report. Bar staff and other patrons had to pull Carter off the woman. Woman Assaulted at Trailside Park

Deputies were working to identify the suspect in the Ashburn incident.

A man behaving in an “erratic” manner struck a woman at Trailside Park — along Claiborne Parkway near the W&OD Trail — in Ashburn around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 20 and left the area, according to the a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. ABC 7 News has reported on the incident. LCSO deputies are working to identify the suspect, described as black, wearing a blue fleece jacket, gray vest and jeans. He was riding a bicycle, according to the report. Trailside Park has several softball diamonds that are in frequent use on weekends. The suspect was “displaying erratic behavior,” according to the report, and the woman attempted to stop him from leaving the area when he struck her with a blunt object, resulting in minor injuries. LCSO Investigates Alleged Assault in Sterling

Hispanic suspect sought in Aug. 13 incident on N. Fillmore Avenue.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged assault and attempted abduction that occurred Aug. 13 in the Sterling area and was reported Aug. 15. A 39-year-old woman told investigators that as she exited her vehicle on the 120 block of N. Fillmore Avenue around 12:40 a.m. Aug. 13 an unknown man approached her. The man spoke briefly with the victim before allegedly grabbing her and forcing her into the backseat of her car, where he held her down. The victim screamed and the suspect fled in a sky blue older model car. The suspect was described as a 5-foot-9 Hispanic male with a medium build, wearing a black shirt and black pants. Narcotics-related assault, peeper, accident, theft among incidents reported to the sheriff's department in the community.

Drug-related Assault A Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputy at Inova Loudoun Hospital on July 23 in Lansdowne became away of a 15-year-old boy being treated for injuries from an assault believed to be drug related. The teen reported to the deputy that an unknown person assaulted him near the 43300 block of Hay Road at 10:30 p.m. July 21. The suspect reportedly took money and narcotics from the victim. The incident remains under investigation by the LCSO. Assault, a pedestrian death, larceny and destruction of property among Ashburn incidents reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Teen Assaulted by Man in Pickup A 19-year-old teenager reported that the driver of a gray pickup truck, described as either Asian or Hispanic, approached the teen, jumped out of the vehicle and then began to chase the teen around 3:38 a.m. July 13. According to a report given the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the teen said the driver made reference to a water balloon that hit his truck and then assaulted him. The driver was further described as a male with very short, dark hair. McLean Pedestrian Dies in Ashburn Village A 21-year-old McLean man was struck by a commercial vehicle near Route 7 and Ashburn Village Boulevard around 12:43 a.m. July 12. Teen Arrested for Alleged Assault in Sterling

Investigators seek witnesses of incident where another teen came to rescue of middle school students ages 12 and 14. The following arrest information was supplied by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 16-year-old Sterling male remained in custody Tuesday afternoon after investigators charged him for grabbing and attempting to sexually assault two girls walking to school in the area of Seneca Ridge Drive and Augusta Drive Monday morning, around 7:30 a.m.  As the girls walked along a path to school, an unknown male grabbed them, according to a press release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. According to the release, the male attempted to sexually assault them before they freed themselves. Another male teenager who saw the incident chased the suspect away. LCSO Investigates Alleged Sterling Carjacking

A pizza delivery driver reported that he was assaulted before the suspect took his car.

  Investigators with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an alleged carjacking that occurred around 10:15 p.m. Feb. 22 along the 21840 block of Baldwin Square in Sterling. A pizza delivery driver reported that after making a delivery an unknown black male approached him. The driver, a 47-year-old Sterling man, told investigators that the suspect assaulted him with a blunt object, took the victim’s keys and left in the victim’s car, a 1999 blue, four-door Honda Civic. The suspect was described as a 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10 male in his late teens or early 20s. He reportedly wore a black baseball hat and a black jacket at the time of the robbery.
