Abandoned Home Caught Fire in Arcola Tuesday

The cause remains under investigation; units from multiple fire stations assisted

Units from six Loudoun County Fire-Rescue stations reported to the 42000 block of Arcola Road shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a series of calls reporting a house on fire. The first firefighters on the scene reported finding an abandoned structure ablaze. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and several units remained on scene performing extensive overhaul operations. The structure continued to smolder Wednesday afternoon. The home sits on a 41-acre parcel wedged between Arcola Road and Loudoun County Parkway. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Sterling Fire Displaces Four

The damages to the home, just east of Route 28, are estimated at $200,000.

A fire caused an estimated $200,000 damage to a Sterling home Saturday night and has displaced a family of four. Loudoun County Emergency Communications began receiving calls at 7:19 p.m. Jan. 26 about a fire at 201 Magnolia Court, just a short distance east of Route 28 Centre.  The first units on the scene reported seeing heavy fire coming from the 2-story, single-family structure. Firefighters attempted an interior attack, but were pulled forced from the home by the intensity of the blaze, according to a report from Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. Two Fires Strike Eastern Loudoun Homes

Damage from separate blazes in CountrySide and Sterling displace two families.

Two fires early this week in Eastern Loudoun resulted in the displacement of two families and about $150,000 in damages, and prompted Loudoun fire personnel to issue home heating safety tips. Units from several Loudoun County fire stations responded to 290 Chelmsford Court in Sterling after receiving 911 calls around 8:30 a.m. and spotted fire coming from the two-story end unit. The fire was under control within 20 minutes, according to a report from the Loudoun County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management. Fire companies from Cascades, Sterling Park, Lansdowne and Fairfax County responded. The occupants of the Chelmsford home were displaced and reported to be staying with friends. Two Loudoun Corrections Fires Called Arson

Investigators are examining the possibility of a connection between the blazes at two separate offices.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office recently announced that it has classified a Dec. 19 fire at Loudoun Department of Community Corrections office on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg as an attempted arson, marking the second case of arson at the office in just over a month. The early morning fire produced minimal damage to the structure where staff members have been housed since an earlier Nov. 14 fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the agency’s office at 107 Loudoun Street in Leesburg. The two incidents have not been conclusively linked, but investigators are examining that possibility. Townhouse Fire Displaces Two in Ashburn

The accidental fire caused approximately $50,000 in damage.

A townhouse fire on Ridgecrest Square Dec. 12 caused $50,000 in damage and displaced two residents, according to a press release from the Loudoun County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. The fire department received an emergency call around 7 p.m. Wednesday reporting the fire on the 19900 block of Ridgecrest near George Washington University. Fire and rescue units from Lansdowne, Cascades, Ashburn and Leesburg responded to the scene and found a small fire on the first floor of a middle townhouse unit. The fire was contained to the first floor and quickly extinguished.  Smoke alarms alerted the residents to the fire. No injuries were reported. Ashburn Village Fire Causes $700,000 in Damage

Residents have been displaced from two homes on Mossy Brook Square after accidental fire.

A fire in Ashburn Village over the weekend deemed to be accidental displaced residents from two homes and caused an estimated $700,000 in damaged. Loudoun’s Emergency Communications Center received a report of smoke from a townhouse on Mossy Brook Square just before 1:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Firefighters arriving on the scene called for additional equipment, noting the flame spreading along the roof to other units. Firefighters soon withdrew from the building because of the extent of the conflagration. Two townhouses received extensive damage. Various degrees of smoke, fire and water damage occurred at three additional units. A family of three and another single resident were displaced from the two homes suffering the most damage. Earls Court Home Catches Fire in Ashburn

Multiple fire-rescue units responded; improperly disposed smoking materials blamed.

  Units from six Loudoun County fire stations responded to reports of a home burning on the 43300 block of Earls Court in Ashburn shortly before 4 p.m. Feb. 1. The first firefighters on the scene reported seeing smoke and fire at the rear of the home. Units from Ashburn, Moorefield, Lansdowne, Arcola, South Riding and Cascades reported to the scene, according to a report from the Loudoun Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management Services. There were also reports of a trapped occupant, prompting calls for additional units from Ashburn, Sterling Park and Leesburg. Firefighters quickly gained control of the blaze, containing it to the home’s rear deck and sunroom. No occupants were found in the home and investigators later accounted…

Improper Disposal of Smoking Materials Caused Two-Alarm Sterling Fire

Twenty-six residents were displaced as a result of the fire, with damage estimated at $2 million.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office announced Monday that a two-alarm apartment fire in Sterling is believed to have been caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials. The fire caused about $2 million worth of damage to the four-story structure and displaced 26 residents, according to a release from Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. Fire-rescue workers were called to the scene on the 20500 block of Reserve Falls Terrace at about 7:40 a.m. Nov. 20. Units from Sterling, Lansdowne, Ashburn and Fairfax responded. After initially attempting to extinguish the fire, crews were called by because of deteriorating conditions and concerned of structural collapse. New Playground Locked Because of April Fire

Teens were charged in blaze that destroyed the Stone Bridge play yard earlier this year.

Anyone who’s driven by Stone Bridge High School recently may have noticed the new playground equipment. A blaze in April destroyed the playground, which now remains under lock and key. A joint investigation by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office led to charges against two teens, 13 and 15, in May. The teens were not identified and are being processed through the juvenile justice system. Insurance covered most of the loss, which totaled nearly $76,000. The replacement equipment cost came close to $54,000, while cleanup costs came in at about $22,000. The school system paid a $5,000 deductible toward the repairs. Aug. 18 Fundraiser at Caliente for Families Impacted by Spice Bush Fire

Brambleton pulls together, pools resources for neighbors after blaze displaces them from their homes.

With the goal of helping out neighbors in need, the Caliente Mex-Sea Kitchen & Bar in Brambleton has planned an Aug. 18 fundraiser for families affected by the Aug. 1 fire on Spice Bush Terrace, also in Brambleton. Twenty-five percent of food and 50 percent of beverage revenue will be donated to the families. In addition, a silent auction has been planned.
