Get Ready for the Ashburn Patch Youth Fishing Photo Contest

Prepare your cameras for a June 4 event that will be fun for the whole family.

Kids love fishing, and it's pretty clear why. No other activity combines quality time with mom and dad with worms, frogs, slimy fish and mud. For kids and adults alike, such a combination is almost guaranteed to create lasting memories and moments of genuine hilarity. To celebrate all of the things that make fishing with kids awesome and smelly, Ashburn Patch is throwing the first ever Ashburn Kids Fishing Photo contest on Saturday, June 4.  The contest is simple. All kids12 and under are eligible. On June 4, take a kid fishing on any lake or pond in Ashburn and start snapping photos. Then, post your best photo to ashburn.patch.com, and we'll select winners from all of the entries and award prizes. The photos don't even need to have fish …

Latest Seafood Restaurant to Land in Ashburn Offers Fresh Fish, Lobster

Fresh seafood and the ambiance of Maine's lobster-laden waters greet diners at Ashburn's newest restaurant, Ford's Fish Shack, which opens tonight. Owners Tony and Ana Stafford encourage the community to test their take on American seafood. Doors open at 5:00pm. It's located in Cameron Chase Shopping Center near the Ice House ice rink. New seafood restaurant widens fare available in Ashburn

Ashburn residents looking for mouth-watering New England-style seafood will soon find a haven for it. Ford's Fish Shack opens Sept. 27 in the Cameron Chase Shopping Center on Ice Rink Plaza. Reminiscent of a casual Maine lobster shack, the thoughtfully implemented décor transcends other restaurants' of this type. With its authentic lobster traps, buoys and magnificent coastal Maine mural by artist Michelle Sommers, diners just may feel like they are in another place altogether. Ford's menu focuses on underserved elements of the seafood market. This was the best seafood meal I have ever had in my life, and I am 50 years old. Not one morsel was not a sumptuous feast for my palate. Even the complimentary corn muffins with very light whipped maple butter was exquisite. I had the most heavenly crab cake of my life.
