Celebrations of fall continue this weekend with several outdoor festivals around Ashburn and plenty of opportunities to enjoy local entertainers. Here's what to expect:
65 Jousters will compete for the coveted title of "national champion" on Saturday.
Calling all Lords and Ladies, the National Jousting Tournament will commence at 10:00am on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Aldie. The sport that was widely popular in medieval times is still practiced today. This weekend, 65 competitors in four categories: novice, amateur, semi-professional and professional, will compete for the title of "National Jousting Champion." The annual event draws horse enthusiasts, families and curious spectators from the East Coast and Southern Region. For those who have not experienced a live jousting tournament, prepare for bursting speed and thrills. Competitors' ages range from 4 to 80.
