Rep. Paul Ryan, Vice President Joe Biden spar in fiery debate, talking economy, abortion, Iran and religion in Thursday night debate.
Vice President Joe Biden and Republican VP candidate U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin faced off Thursday night in a heated debate that covered foreign wars, tax reform, healthcare, abortion, and their shared faith in the Catholic Church. During the debate, broadcast live from Centre College in Danville, Ky., Biden flexed his experience with foreign policy when answering questions about ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, nuclear arms in Iran and whether to send troops to Syria. “The last thing America needs is to get in a ground war in the Middle East,” Biden said. Ryan called the Obama administration’s foreign policy “chaotic,” criticizing the lack of security present during the September attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, …

The presumed Republican presidential nominee and his running mate hit the campaign trail in swing state Virginia.
For those who may have been living in a bubble over the weekend, Mitt Romney picked U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, of Wisconsin, to share the Republican ticket in this fall’s presidential campaign. Bob McDonnell was believed to be among those Romney considered to run for vice president. Check out photos from Romney’s Manassas stop. Or read comments from other readers and post your thoughts about the pick.

A strong majority of Democrats think both Virginia Democrats and President Barack Obama can win their elections in November largely by running against Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plans and his proposals for Medicare, according to a weekend Northern Virginia Patch "snap poll." On Saturday morning, Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, announced he had chosen Ryan as his running mate, passing over Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and others presumed to be on the short list. Romney made the announcement in Norfolk and spent the day on a bus tour of Virginia, ending with a campaign event in Manassas. After the announcement, Patch sent surveys to more than 75 key Republicans and Democrats, …
