Two Dulles Toll Hearings Remain in Reston, McLean

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has planned the hearing to get input about proposed toll increased to pay for the Metro Silver Line.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced this past week that the public comment period has opened regarding proposed toll rate increases along the Dulles Toll Road to help pay construction costs for the Metro’s Silver Line project as well as road operations. Under proposal, the combined main plaza and ramp tolls would double from the existing rate to $2.25 for 2-axle vehicles over the next three years based on the following schedule: Informational about the proposed toll increases, titled "On-Line Open House," can be found at www.mwaa.com/tollroad. Hearing on Lansdowne High School July 18

On Wednesday, the Loudoun Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors have planned a joint meeting about required approvals.

A series of land use applications required to move forward with a high school next Belmont Ridge Middle School in Lansdowne heads to a joint public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the middle school. The school, called HS-8 on the county’s Capital Improvement Plan, would occupy land consolidated around property the county purchased from the National Conference Center. Constructing the high school will mean removing the existing community park and rearranging the Belmont Ridge Middle site. See the maps at right for detailed views of the site plans. BCan's point of view is not uncommon and has some merit but I would not use Fairfax county high schools as more than points of comparison, not real yardsticks. They are more diverse in size, facilities and programs than Loudoun and they are not that fantastic as schools. Ashburn Fire Station Expansion Gets Hearing

The fire company’s proposal calls for doubling the size of the existing facility along Ashburn Road.

A special exception request by the Ashburn Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department to tear down a portion of its existing station and construct a larger facility on the 3.17-acre site along Ashburn Road is set for a public hearing Tuesday night. The fire company now has 17,535 square feet of space, but would spread out into a 36,083-square-foot building. The proposal calls for a slightly expanded footprint for the new building. Founder’s Hall to the rear of the existing station would remain, but the front portion of the station would be torn down. “Tonight's vote will hopefully be the culmination of a two and a half year effort to modernize Ashburn Fire Station 6,” said Carl Cowan, president of the department, adding that the boundary line …

OpenBand Franchise, DTC Rezoning on Hearing Agenda

Residents are invited to speak during supervisors’ monthly session

The OpenBand franchise agreement, a rezoning proposal at the Dulles Town Center, a secure office park in Leesburg and plans at Trump National to build a golf cart storage facility in a Floodplain Overlay District are all items on the public hearing agenda Monday, June 13. For information about other public hearing items, or to see the agenda and related documents, click here. Public hearings take place in the boardroom at the County Government Center on Harrison Street in Leesburg. Hearing may also be viewed on on Comcast Channel 23 or Verizon Channel 40 or via Web cast here. In addition, residents may email comments to supervisors at bos@loudoun.gov.
