No word on whether the nine runners from the community were injured in explosions near the finish line.
Six of nine runners from Ashburn finished the Boston Marathon Monday before explosions stopped the race. The 117th Boston Marathon began with 26 seconds of silence to honor Sandy Hook victims and about three hours after the first runners finished up, there two explosions near the finish line. Several television reports indicated that two additional devices were located and disarmed. Sadly, the Patriot-Ledger is reporting two booms were heard from inside the Fairmount Copley Hotel near the finish line on Boylston Street. There are also reports of multiple serious injuries, but no word yet on how many people were injured, or whether those injured were spectators or runners. Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the incident and seek public assistance; the mother could require medical attention.
Investigators are looking for the mother of newborn found lifeless in a pond in Sterling late Sunday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. A resident reported seeing what appeared to be a deceased infant while walking along a path near Awsley Court in CountrySide around 11:42 a.m. Sunday, and emergency personnel responded to the scene, according to an LCSO press release. Investigators believe the child, a female, was not born in a hospital and that the mother may require medical attention. Investigators are working with Loudoun Child Protective Services, School Resource Officers and checking with the community in an attempt to indentify the mother. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled an April 8 public safety meeting for the University Station area (see map). The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Ashburn Library on Hay Road. The LCSO holds quarterly public safety meetings in each its four service areas in the county. All residents, homeowners associations, community groups, business owners and town representatives are invited to attend. A Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Captain who represents the service area and Sheriff Mike Chapman or a member of this leadership team will be in attendance. Graham, 25, of Pennsylvania, with unlawful entry and drunk in public after he attempted to enter a home on the 20700 block of Rainsboro Drive in Ashburn Village around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 20. The woman’s family reported that she’s was last known location was her Pryor Square home.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has issued a request public assistance to locate a Sterling woman who was last seen by family members Jan. 21. Latanger N. Gray, 47, is described as a 5-foot-6, 200-pound black female. Anyone with information about Gray’s location, or other related information, is asked to contact Detective S.
