Ashburn Woman Dies in Fall at National Harbor Hotel
Authorities, citing witness accounts, have ruled the incident an apparent suicide.
The death of a young woman who plunged to her death from a mezzanine level at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Oxon Hill on New Year's Day has been ruled an apparent suicide, according to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Leyana Nabi, 27, of Ashburn, was seen falling from a balcony in the hotel at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Prince George's County police and fire/EMS departments. Officials at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said today that Nabi died from head injuries sustained in the fall and they ruled the death an apparent suicide. I'm her cousin, and I'd be wary of things like "she didn't seem suicidal!" etc - mainly because I've been there. I'm often seen as bubbly and happy but at the same time I have made attempts on my life and there but for the Grace of God I still live.
