Those attending prayed for Leesburg and Loudoun County; for God to change the hearts of the people, for salvations, healings, and miracles and for God to reveal His manifest presence among us. We believe in the power of God’s Word and come together outside of our church walls and publicly declare our faith in God and His Word at the County Courthouse. Through the Bible Reading Marathon, we celebrate our faith. We proclaim the importance of the Bible to Loudoun’s past, present and future and we celebrate the religious freedom we enjoy in this nation.

Bible Marathoner's Experience Spirit-Filled Week

The Bible was read in ninety hours from Genesis to Revelation by 236 men, women and children participating in the Bible Reading Marathon during the six day, five night event.

LINK strongly believes that assisting those less fortunate with their most basic needs fosters hope and good will among our diverse and fast growing community. Unconditional love that flows freely is the simplest and purest of all acts. A used winter coat, four bags of non-perishables, a grocery gift certificate, two toys for a child at Christmas, these are the simplest of acts.

Bishop John A.M. Guernsey was elected to be the first Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic of the Anglican Church in North America on May 21, 2011. He was invested by Archbishop Robert Duncan on September 10, 2011. He and his wife Meg Phillips Guernsey reside in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Anglican Bishop John Guernsey will provide reflections and encouragement to the Opening Ceremony of the week-long event on Saturday April 27, 2013.

The Leesburg Police Department has a proud record of providing police services since 1758. Leesburg is the seat of Government for Loudoun County. To better serve a rapidly growing community of over 38,000 citizens, the Department has a staff of more than 80 sworn officers and several civilians divided between the following job functions: Patrol/Community Policing Officers, Canine Officers, Crime Prevention Officers, Bicycle Officers, Detectives, ID Technicians, Motorcycle Traffic Officers, School Resource Officers, a Special Operations Team, Civil Defense Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and our own Emergency Communications Center.

Dr. Cummings has served more than 25 years in church music ministry as well as the professional educational arena. He has written anthems, hymns, gospel music, contemporary and traditional, praise and worship songs, and a cantata. Several of his musical compositions and arrangements are published in The Heritage Hymnal and Total Praise Hymnal. Bill has toured the United States, Caribbean, Switzerland, Austria, Vienna, Germany, England, Paris, and Rome, including a performance at the Vatican before the Pope.

Musical is seeking local talent to audition in Reston April 22 as cast members, soloists, for an SATB on-stage mixed choir and two youth soloists (boy/girl), 8-13 years of age.

Beth LaRock believes prayer is empowering. “It has an impact on the community because God’s word is powerful,” LaRock said. LaRock works with Community Prayer Watch, Get America Praying, and Loudoun Awakening. She has been involved with the Leesburg Bible Marathon since the beginning in 2008. “God’s word says it will never come back void,” Larock said. LaRock attends Free Life Church in Leesburg.

Syd Fearing, Church of the Holy Spirit, Leesburg - "What a blessing to blow the Shofar in front of the tent at the fifth annual Bible Reading Marathon. The blowing of the Shofar is reflected throughout the Bible and is blown for multiple reasons; a signal to point attention, to bring blessing, to give affirmation, to encourage, to bring warning; a call to worship – a peculiar, unifying sound. So I blow the Shofar to bless and honor everyone who comes together to read the Bible in public in preparation for the National Day of Prayer." The sound of the shofar also brings to God’s remembrance that exalted moment when “a very loud blast of the horn” (Exodus 19:16) was heard at Mount Sinai, and the children of Israel entered into an everlasting covenant with God. On that eventful occasion they responded with the memorable words: “All that the Lord has spoken we will faithfully do!” (Exodus 24:7). This remembrance, too, awakens God’s attribute of mercy on behalf of the children of Israel.

O Lord, so stir up in your Church, indeed in each of us, that Spirit of adoption and reconciliation that is made possible by your grace revealed in Jesus the Christ, that we being renewed in both body and mind, may worship and serve you in sincerity and truth. We pray this in the name of the same Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
