At this point in American history, there is utterly no reason to continue the farce of an Electoral College. Popular vote is all that's needed - a simple majority is the only true democratic format. Majority vote forces all parties to put up candidates that represent a majority of American's concerns, something the Republican Party is apparently loathe to do.
