About 600,000 workers region-wide telecommute, let's say half of those are VA residents, half MD. That means that in NoVA alone, let alone the rest of the state, 300,000 people will be competing for 4,000 credits. So what we have is a VA-treasury-sponsored lottery.

Telecommuting benefits employers and employees, so why are we having to subsidize this with a tax credit?

Ramadan and Comstock get the political points for it, until people lose this low-odds lottery and get upset. Oops...

4,000 people statewide off the roads half the time won't even reduce congestion, while that $1 million could have helped out with a road improvement somewhere.

We need real transportation solutions, not political jokes like this!

Why should we pay another 1% in income taxes, another .8% in sales taxes (16% increase) under the Governor's plan, pay insane tolls, and then suffer in congestion because all the above is wasted of politicians' pet projects instead of the biggest congestion relief for the buck... Contact your Delegate and tell them to SAY NO to another tax increase!

Let's hope the House of Delegates kills this bill before Loudoun residents get a 1% income tax hike that we can't do anything to stop. Removing the sunset and referendum provisions made this too good of a temptation for local officials to resist.

The Beltway and I-95 Express Lanes will help with congestion, but the Metro Silver Line's own studies show that it will actually make traffic worse.

There are some obvious solutions to our congestion problems, but the politicians and developers like to waste our tolls and taxes on rail instead. More info on our website.

"those commuting west to areas like Reston and Herndon on the new routes will end up with a longer commute because of backtracking."

Good express bus routes are being reduced so people will be forced to lurch through stop after stop in Tyson's Corner instead of zooming straight to/from West Falls Church. The Silver Ridership estimates used by planners are double what a more responsible study predicted. The buses provide more efficient, flexible, and affordable service than the train will. As usual, the people who are going to benefit from this project are the Tysons developers who will reap windfall profits off the upzoning.

Heather, the Greenway peak congestion toll is $4.90- they are just forced to collect the $1.00 "ramp" toll for the Dulles Toll Road (DTR) if you are using the DTR as well. One more way MWAA is stealing our money to pay for the Silver Spoon Line.

Slower than speculated commercial development, improvements to Rt. 7, and increasing Dulles Toll Road tolls to pay for Dulles Rail are the biggest part of why the Greenway's tolls are as high as they are.

A state takeover would eliminate the protection that the SCC currently provides; they limited this last Greenway toll increase to 2% ($4.80 to $4.90 on the peak toll). Compare that to the 55% increase MWAA approved in December. MWAA's DTR tolls will soon make even the Greenway's peak congestion toll look cheap- see the graph here: http://notollincrease.blogspot.com/2013/01/virginia-purchase-greenway.html
