The active member of the Rotary Club of Ashburn also advises the Briar Woods High School Interact Club.

The Rotary Club of Ashburn recently bestowed its highest honor, Rotarian of the Year, to Doug Corbett, “a member who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to the principles of Rotary, and recognizes a Rotarian’s sustained, outstanding efforts in the Five Avenues of Service,” according to the club.

Outgoing club president Shawn Mitchell presented the award to Corbett during the annual transition meeting.

"It was my pleasure presenting the Rotarian of the Year award to Doug Corbett,” Mitchell said in a press release. “He was instrumental in raising awareness of the Ashburn club in our community over the last year and played a key role in chartering the Briar Woods High School Interact Club, Rotary at the high school level. He was dependable and went above and beyond the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self.’"
