Police: Purse Thieves Grab Two Bags in Sterling

Similar incidents reported this week at two grocery stores, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

You'll want to keep one eye on your purse in the grocery store after unknown thieves swiped bags from shopping carts at two stores in Sterling this week.

On Sunday, officers responded to a report of a stolen purse at a store in the 22300 block of South Sterling Boulevard. The victim told police that she was shopping at 6 p.m. when someone removed her purse from a grocery cart.

On Wednesday, a woman reported that she also had her purse stolen Sunday afternoon. The woman said she was shopping at the Giant grocery store at 21800 Town Center Plaza between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. when the purse was removed from her grocery cart.

The woman contacted police after she learned that a credit card in the purse was used at a local store.
