Shooting, Wreck 'Domestic in Nature,' According to Investigators

Incident on Sugarland Run Drive "appears to be domestic in nature," according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A wreck and apparent self-inflicted shooting appear to be the result of a domestic incident, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 7 p.m. Tuesday to the 60 block of Sugarland Run Drive in Sterling regarding a crash between two vehicles.

The two drivers, a man and a woman, reportedly knew each other. According to police, the man appears to have exited his car, pulled out a gun and shot himself.

He was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Sugarland Run Drive in the area of Abbey Circle was closed in both directions Tuesday night while police worked the scene.
