Ashburn Native Becomes All-Time Block Leader in Volleyball for Dartmouth Big Green

The former Broad Run student, now a college senior studying government and French, continues to build on her record.

Former Broad Run High School student Elisa Scudder continues to shine at volleyball, serving as co-captain of her team at Dartmouth College. This past week, she broke the record for blocks for the Big Green.

While the team ultimately, lost the match 3-0 to Yale, Scudder’s solo block in the second set gave her 281 for her career, with more games yet to play. The record came when the set was tied at 12 against Yale’s McHaney Carter. The record, previously held by Danra Kazenski had stood at Dartmouth for well over a decade. Scudder, a senior, entered the game against Yale tied for the record after getting a solo block and two block assists the previous night against Brown.

“We are so excited for Scudder and couldn’t be prouder,” Dartmouth head coach Erin Lindsey said, according to an article posted on the Dartmouth Sports website. “Scudder got the block at a pivotal point in the second set and I think that speaks volumes about her defensive play this season and throughout her career. She’s become such a force on the defensive end that teams are forced to adjust their attack attempts. We are expecting her to continue to produce and build on her record throughout the remainder of the season.”
