Independence Day: Loudoun’s Got Plenty of Fireworks Planned

Find a display near you, or one that works better with your family's schedule.

The first fireworks displays in celebration of Independence Day will begin on June 29 in Loudoun County with events in Brambleton and Sterling.

Residents may have noticed a large number of bright-colored trailers selling “permissible” fireworks. Such fireworks are distinguished from firecrackers, Roman candles, missiles, bottle rockets and shells, which are not allowed in Loudoun County without a permit.

“Throughout the National Capital Region, local fire marshals work closely as a group with the fireworks industry to ensure only permissible fireworks are sold to the general public where allowed, pursuant to local fire codes,” according to Linda Hale, chief fire marshal of Loudoun, in a press release. “Be aware that use of non-permissible fireworks is a violation of the Loudoun County Fire Prevention Code, a Class 1 misdemeanor, which could result in jail time of up to one year and a fine of up to $2,500.00.”
