Mega Yard Sale for Mega Cause Saturday in Ashburn Village

Declutter for the Divineys will donate all proceeds to local resident's brain injury treatment.

If you haven’t already heard, a Mega yard sale is coming to Ashburn Saturday as well as Mega talent for your entertainment; and the best part is that it is all for a great cause.  is an event that was conceived by Ashburn residents Christine LeTourneau and Jane Hofmann, after being touched by Ryan Diviney’s story and his acceptance into a cutting-edge medical program.

Diviney is an Ashburn resident who, while attending college at West Virginia University in 2009, was beaten severely in an attack that left him with a brain injury. He has been in a coma since. Recently, he was accepted into a brain injury treatment program at the International Brain Research Foundation, which is a costly program that the Diviney family cannot afford to fund fully on their own. Inspired by the Diviney family and a popular television program, Hofmann came up with the idea for the fundraiser.

“I was watching the show ‘Enough Already’ on the Oprah Winfrey Network and got motivated to clean the house," Hofmann explained. "I produced a big pile of items that I needed to donate. Looking at the pile, the idea hit me: people have so much stuff, let’s organize a community-wide yard sale.”
